  - Combatting Covid-19 at Ryding2Health

"Steps we are taking to flatten the curve of Covid-19 at Ryding2Health"

At Ryding2Health we have always taken cleanliness very seriously. You have to when you have a team of massage therapists who deal with many people per day at close range. We are very confident that it is still perfectly safe to continue to visit Ryding2Health for fitness or massage therapy. But what are we actually doing to keep our business clean, and hopefully virus free?   - OCTOBER WEBINAR: Fatness V Fitness

"This is a popular discussion which surrounds the whole media hype on skinny is good, however we see more and more sudden deaths and health scares in seemingly fit people, so we explore why that might be, plus how it affects you "

Regularly I have conversations with clients about how seemingly fit healthy people come down with life threatening illnesses - so which is actually better, being fit, or being skinny?

DATE: 18 October

TIME: 7:30pm NZST

  - Body Image & Body Confidence - Educational seminar series

"Melanie brings mental strength coaching back to our seminar series for September by exploring body confidence, self image and self belief. "

Self belief is one of the most common barriers to fitness success in our clients. That's why we have decided to bring back an NLP seminar on that very topic.

The media are largely responsible for our distorted views of what is acceptable, what is normal and what we should strive towards. Little is mentioned of how these distorted norms are achieved and maintained: usually through inexplicably strict eating and high volume training. This is not reflective of how we normally live our lives.

This seminar explores these media portrayals, discusses how we can change our outlook, accept what we have right now and paint our own path for a realistic and achievable fitness future.

This seminar is free for Ryding2Health members, $10 for non members. Spaces are limited, booking essential.

  - We are hosting EMBRACE: a must watch movie!

"Taryn Brumfitt, Founder of the Body Image Movement created the movie to uncover why poor body image has become a global epidemic and what women everywhere can do to have a brighter future."

The culture of body loathing and body shaming had reached epic proportions worldwide.

Lose weight, reduce wrinkles, fight cellulite; we’re constantly told to fight a battle to be someone other than who we are. Women and girls are constantly lead to believe they’re not as good as they should be. And why? Because every day they feel they’re being judged on their appearance and how far away it is from an unachievable ideal.

At the Body Image Movement, they are on a quest to redefine and rewrite the ideals of beauty. They aim to harness and facilitate positive body image activism by encouraging women to be more accepting of who they are, to use positive language regarding their bodies and others, and to prioritise health before beauty. Their goal is to reach as many women as possible around the world and speak to them about how we can learn to fully embrace and love our bodies.

Say no to…

  • Excessive “Photoshopping” of body images in the media
  • Being programmed by the media and corporations into accepting unrealistic body images
  • Prescribing to the notion that being a certain weight determines whether you’re healthy
  • Sexualisation of girls in the media and modern culture
  • The objectification of women
  • Society and advertising preying on women’s insecurities

A funny, touching, at times gut wrenching but above all, life changing documentary, the heart of Embrace is Taryn’s story. How she went from a body hater to a body lover. From being devastated by her perceived ugliness to proudly posing nude for the whole world to see.

  - It’s time to “Drop Your Boss”!

"Love them or hate them, every employee would like the chance to drop their boss – in this case off the top of the tower at Invercargill Fire Station in Deveron Street, on Saturday 3 December."

Of course there are strings attached – abseiling ropes supplied by Adventure Southland – so the boss is shaken, not broken.

And why would any boss agree to such a scary undertaking? Because their employees are egging them on, even paying for the privilege of seeing them squirm and go over the edge.

Of course, it’s for a great cause – the Graeme Dingle Foundation Southland with its high achieving programmes for values, life-skills and confidence building programmes in schools throughout the region.

Drop Your Boss” has been run successfully in other regions around NZ with employees getting together to raise the $1,000 to see their boss go over the edge.
